NOMINATION OF MATTARELLA

First appointments of the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella. Ugo Zampetti will be the new Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic. “Zampetti – it is stated in a note of the Hill – will exercise its functions without compensation.” Donato Marra, Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic with the former head of state Giorgio Napolitano, announced his “unwillingness” to play the same role with Mattarella. In a statement the Quirinale note that it Mattarella “noting the inviolability” of Marra to continue to perform the functions of the Secretary General, “considered the strenuous efforts made in almost nine years as president Giorgio Napolitano, thanked him for the cooperation received during the transition phase. “
Who is Ugo Zampetti
Ugo Zampetti, 65, was is the Secretary General of the Chamber until last December. Entered in the administration of the House in 1976, he held various positions until he became head of the assembly. In 1999 he was appointed secretary general of the Chamber during the presidency Violante and gradually while remaining in the same position under the presidencies Casini, Bertinotti and Fini Boldrini. In December of 2014 he left the administration of the House for reasons of age. His position is currently held by Lucia Pagano.
Other appointments
The President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, launched also the necessary procedures for the appointment of Daniel Cabras, parliamentary adviser to the director of the office of the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic.
