Rome – “I have ordered that the Quirinale is, within a short time, open to visitors every day .” This was announced by the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella explaining that he had asked to open “the path of visits to other parts of the building and use of new spaces for exhibitions, permanent or temporary.”
The President of the Republic said that the Quirinale “ is a symbol of culture and the history of the Italians; is a building that has accompanied the history of Italy and which continues day after day, to accompany her as the seat of the Presidency of the Republic. To underline this report – said the head of state – I directed that the Quirinale is shortly open to visitors every day. ”
Mattarella, after a presentation of an exhibition of tapestries , Pontormo and Bronzino staged at the Quirinale, explained that will also open salons and environments not included in the path of visits possible until now. “A working group is already studying the procedures for my decision.”
Mattarella explained that this “new use” of the Quirinale will obviously be open to all citizens and foreign tourists. Just to expand the path and allow the construction of temporary and permanent exhibitions inside the palace, the president also instructed that “some offices retire” to make room for this possibility. “All this – said the president – to emphasize this bond that exists between the Quirinal and the history of our country.”
