The parliamentary majority that supports the government of President Enrique Pena Nieto is safe. But the mid-term elections held yesterday in Mexico – in a climate of social tension and without a background of violence – have marked an inflection point for the three main political parties in the country. After the polls by more than 80% of the votes, the stainless Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI, center) of Pena Nieto maintains first place with about 30% of the votes, the National Action Party (PAN, right-wing opposition) 21% and the Democratic Revolution Party (PRD, leftist opposition) about il’11%. All falling.
