Renzi: “Remarks the Eu on the law of the Budget? Give us a hand on immigration” – The Republic

The Eu should “give a hand” to Italy to reduce the costs of immigration, rather than thinking of the reliefs on the Budget law. He said to the Tg1, the president of the Council Matteo Renzi, responding to a question about possible objections from Brussels to the budget package approved yesterday by the Council of ministers: “I Am curious to understand what reliefs. The Eu wants to discuss our expenses on immigration? I have a brilliant idea: start to give us a hand, since that are prevailing selfishness and not solidarity. As soon as the Eu starts to give us a hand on immigration, you will see that the costs are lower,” said the premier, re-opening a controversy, never closed, in regard to the attitude of the Eu on immigration-related issues affecting our Country.

After years in which “the politicians took the money, he added Renzi – we are trying to give back a bit of resources. Sure, times are difficult, it is not easy to do everything that we had in our heads, but there are 2 billion more for health care; more money for pensions, 7 billion in three years; says enough with the mechanism absurd Equitalia, the right to pay taxes but you can not think that the tax authorities face the money with interest harassment”. And then “there are measures for the competitiveness, as long as the entrepreneurs, the money putting them in business, not in your pocket. A step forward, as we are doing now for three years.”

The premier had then dismissed the accusations of the opposition who have branded the Maneuver as “election”: “How to make the opposition to vote no to the increase of the money on health care, the cancellation of Equitalia, the increase in money for the school, the increase of pensions, – said the premier – you can always say no. I hope, I think, and I believe that when we get into Parliament we can discuss on each point and also the opposition to give their consent at least on health care and on pensions”.

The premier has also responded to a question on the dinner, Tuesday evening in Washington with us president Barack Obama and first lady Michelle: “president Obama has decided to dedicate the last supper to the White House to Italy. We go with great joy and the awareness that it is not only the Italian government but Italy of a 19 year old girl who after a health problem can give the example to many of his peers”. At the dinner, he added, “we go there with the mayor of Lampedusa, with the greatest scientist of the Italian Fabiola Giannotti and with a great expert of culture such as Paola Antonelli”.
