Cameras in nurseries and pre-schools: the Chamber endorses The Technique of the School

Approved by the Chamber, the law on measures for the prevention of abuse in crèches. The law must still pass the Senate.

After years of debate and after a long and complex comparison of the parliamentary bill in matera “Measures to prevent and combat the conduct of maltreatment or abuse, also psychological in nature, to the detriment of the children in the kindergartens and in pre-schools and of the people housed in the facilities for social-health and social care for the elderly and persons with disabilities” is approved in the day del19 October from the Room.
measure was presented by the rapporteur Gabriella Giammanco (FI) have summarized the two essential aspects of law: new mode of selection of the staff that work in day nurseries and nursery schools, and installation of closed-circuit cameras. Article 2 gives the Government the authority to adopt, within twelve months from the date of entry into force of this law, a legislative decree for the definition of the mode of assessment of aptitude for access to the professions in education (educators o f kindergarten and school teachers of children in particular).
The same article also provides that the staff shall participate regularly in educational activities consistent with the objectives of the law.
The article 4 gives the possibility to kindergartens and nursery schools to install video surveillance systems closed circuit where images are encrypted at the time of the acquisition; access to the recordings will be permitted only upon the decision of the judicial authority. Available that truncates the bud the hope of many teachers to show families the “feats” of children.
As it is easy to imagine all of this must be done “to inviarianza of expenditure”; this means that with regard to the schools resources, including those for the installation of the video surveillance system will be found within the budget of the Ministry.
