The Board Elections and Immunities of the Senate has decided to grant permission to proceed against Matteoli in his capacity as Minister of the Environment and, later, Minister of Infrastructure.
The request for authorization to proceed to trial was formulated by prosecutors in Venice and is related to bribery for the granting of land reclamation of industrial sites in Marghera, in violation of the rules of tendering, Code of public contracts and European directives.
The Government resolution is being discussed now in the classroom of the Senate, to be decided by a vote – after the session in progress – if confirm what was decided in the report voted on by the parliamentary majority.
