Rome, 16 June 2015 – The legalization of cannabis for recreational use in Italy is another step forward in Parliament but is still far from becoming law and contrary positions for now are still the majority.
I am well 218 MPs who signed a bill cross to the legalization of cannabis for recreational use allowing in detention small amount but preventing its sale. It also provides permission to grow plants at home up to a maximum of five and retail in special shops provided license of Monopoly.
instead remain absolute prohibition for minors and the ban on driving while impaired. At home you can hold up to 15 grams, that descend 5 outside the home.
First signatory of the bill is Benedetto Della Vedova who today received the signature of the other colleagues. A sign there are numerous members of the Democratic Party, the M5S, Sel and the mixed group.
There are also opposing views which are summarized below.
Matteo Salvini she says no and says: “I support the legalization and regulation of prostitution, because until proven guilty sex does not hurt, cannabis yes”.
Movement 5 Stars “The legalization of cannabis would allow not only more revenue for the state, but would ease the burden of courts and law enforcement that could deal with more serious crimes as mafia corruption, theft and robbery.”
Giorgia Meloni is contrary and on twitter writes “Half Chamber wants to legalize cannabis, but by FDI-An absolute no to this madness.”
Gasparri Giovanardi and are against and in a joint statement that they know: “The proposal for a partial legalization of cannabis for recreational purposes only consequence will be the increased spread of drugs and the increase in trafficking crime organized. We oppose firmly in Parliament in this initiative from the wrong point of view of legislation and disastrous as negative educational message, especially to young people. “
